Located in the inner southern suburbs of Brisbane, East Brisbane can be found in Queensland, Australia. A total of 5,934 people lived in East Brisbane according to the 2016 census.
It is located 4.8 kilometers away from the CBD, or 3.0 miles. With many Queenslander houses and some small commercial areas, it is mostly residential.
Located north of the Brisbane River, East Brisbane is bordered by Norman Park, east by Coorparoo, south by Woolloongabba, and west by Kangaroo Point. A large part of Norman Park and most of Coorparoo are separated by Norman Creek.
East Brisbane was first settled by Reverend Thomas Mowbray in 1851. Mowbraytown was developed on 13 acres he purchased.
There were 5,598 people living in East Brisbane at the time of the 2011 census.
There were 5,934 people living in East Brisbane at the time of the 2016 census. A total of 53.0% of these were males, while 47.0% were females. It is estimated that 1.3% of the population is Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
Anglican Church Grammar School and Mowbray Park are major landmarks in East Brisbane.
In Mowbray Park, regular bus services and CityCat services provide public transportation to the suburb. There is also a bus stop and train station within easy walking distance of Woolloongabba.
