According to the 2016 census, there were 14,958 people living in Redland Bay, a coastal semi-rural locality in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
A farming and fishing town, Redland Bay has been a farming and fishing area since the first European settlers arrived in the mid-19th century. As a result of improved transport infrastructure, residents were able to commute 35 kilometers into Brisbane when some of the farms were subdivided.
Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, is 35 kilometres south-east of Redland Bay at the southern end of Redland City.
Its name is derived from the Moreton Bay bay to its east.
As a result of the cottonwood trees that were common in the region, the Redland Bay region is called Talwalpin by the Aboriginals.
A government primary (Prep-6) school on Gordon Road for boys and girls, Redland Bay State School is situated at the southern end of the city
There is a real country feel to Redland Bay. It is a residential community on a bayside, but it also has substantial rural and conservation areas. In the Weinam Creek transit precinct, regular passenger and vehicle ferry services connect Russell Island, Karragarra Island, Lamb Island, and Macleay Island.
Lifestyle
Aside from the 18-hole golf course, an amateur fishing club, tennis courts, cricket oval, cycling and walking paths, and a foreshore trail that is one of the most scenic and popular in the city, this community is known as a sporting community.
Moreton Bay's sheltered waters can be accessed from the local boat ramp.
On Peel Street you'll find Sel Outridge Park, on McWilliam Street you'll find Point Talburpin Park, and on Banana Street you'll find Neville Stafford Park.
Shopping
There is a vibrant shopping and dining precinct on Broadwater Terrace and Stradbroke Street that is popular with locals and tourists alike. Every second Sunday of the month, markets are held on Broadwater Terrace and Stradbroke Street. At Victoria Point, you can find the closest major shopping center.
