Murarrie PROFILE
As of the 2016 census, Murarrie had a population of 4,303 people. It is a riverside neighborhood in the eastern part of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
Murarrie has a neighbourhood called Queensport
A suburb of Brisbane, Murarrie lies on the southern edge of the river on its eastern bank. Bulimba Creek (historically known as Doughboy Creek or Doboy Creek) has its mouth and is bounded by the median of the Brisbane River, to the east, and to the south by the river's tributary Bulimba Creek. Afterwards, it is bordered by Wynnum Roads, Creek Roads, the Cleveland railway line, Barrack Roads, Lytton Roads, Colmslie Road, and Colmslie Road to the south-west and west.
Eagle Farm is reached from the South East via the Gateway Motorway (formerly known as the Gateway Bridge) and it exits via the Sir Leo Hielscher Bridges (previously known as the Gateway Bridge).
Train station at Murarrie is located on the Cleveland railway line of the Queensland Rail City network.
After Christopher Porter built Mooraree House in 1861, the district was originally known as Mooraree. It has been suggested that the locality's name is mudherri, a Yuggera language (Yugarabul dialect) word for sticky or muddy. In 1907, the railway station and locality became Murarrie.
The Murarrie State School (prep-6) is a government primary school for boys and girls and located at Garrett Street. It had an enrolment of 76 students in 2017 with 8 teachers .and 9 non-teaching staff .
Murarrie does not have any secondary schools.
