In Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, Morningside is a southside suburb. Morningside had 11,755 residents in the 2021 census
A five-kilometre (3.1-mile) stretch of land, it is bordered by Cannon Hill, Norman Park, Seven Hills, Balmoral, and Hawthorne.
It contains a mixture of old-style weatherboard and chamferboard homes and modern units and townhouses.
A local estate owned by David Longlands is said to have given its name to Morningside. The name may have referred to the Scottish town or to the estate's location on the eastern edge of Brisbane. As well as its name, it is said to be named after the sight of the sun catching the banks of the river in the morning.
67 Pashen Street is the address of Morningside State School, a government primary school (Prep-6) for boys and girls.
In Morningside, there are no secondary schools. There is a secondary school nearby in Balmoral at 259 Thynne Road.
The Morningside Central shopping centre is located on the corner of Junction Road and Wynnum Road, while Colmslie Plaza is on the opposite side of Junction Road. Colmslie Plaza is adjacent to Colmslie Hotel.
