Manly PROFILE
The population of Manly was 4,064 according to the 2016 census, which shows the suburb is part of the Brisbane City Council.
There is a railway station in Manly that serves the city's eastern suburbs . Areas nearby include Wynnum (to the north), Lota (to the south), and Manly West (to the west). In the eastern part of the bay is Moreton Bay
This bay is located between Darling Point and Norfolk Point . In the 1880s, Captain George Poynter Heath subdivided land into Rose Bay Estate, which was named on 9 September 2011. It was he who was Brisbane's first harbour master.
The semi-nomadic Mipirimm subclan of Quandamooka people originally occupied this section of Moreton Bay. Known to the Quandamooka as Narlung, Manly and Lota are known together as 'the place of long shadows'.
There were 3,702 people in Manly at the time of the 2011 census, 50.4% of whom were female and 49.6% male. According to the 2011 census, the median age of the Manly population was 42 years old, 5 years older than the average Australian.
